Leak detection in Ayrshire is the provision of water leak detection services in Ayrshire, a county in Scotland. ADI Leak Detection publishes Ayrshire as a service area and its coverage data lists 16 settlements in the county, of which seven have a dedicated ADI location page.[1] One of ADI's 22 published engineers lists Ayrshire among the areas they cover.[8]

Water supply and regulation[edit]

Water and sewerage services throughout Scotland, including Ayrshire, are provided by Scottish Water, the public body established under the Water Industry (Scotland) Act 2002.[4] Scotland has a single provider rather than the regional companies used in England and Wales, so there is no supply-boundary question within the county. Drinking water quality is regulated by the Drinking Water Quality Regulator for Scotland.[5] Water fittings requirements in Scotland are set by the Water Supply (Water Fittings) (Scotland) Byelaws 2014[6] rather than by the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999, which apply in England and Wales.[7]

Towns and cities covered[edit]

ADI publishes a dedicated location page for seven of the 16 settlements its coverage data records in Ayrshire: Ardrossan, Ayr, Irvine, Kilmarnock, Largs, Prestwick and Troon.[1] The remaining settlements are within the county ADI publishes as a service area but do not have a page of their own, so the list above is what ADI publishes rather than the limit of where it works. ADI files Ayrshire across three separate service-area sections rather than one, reflecting the current principal areas rather than the historic county.[2][3]
