Leak detection in Lancashire is the provision of water leak detection services in Lancashire, a county in England. ADI Leak Detection publishes Lancashire as a service area and its coverage data lists 45 settlements in the county, of which 20 have a dedicated ADI location page.[1] Four of ADI's 22 published engineers list Lancashire among the areas they cover.[4][5][6][7]

Water supply and regulation[edit]

Water and sewerage services in Lancashire are provided principally by United Utilities.[2] Water company supply areas are set by appointment and do not follow county boundaries, so the company serving a given property in Lancashire depends on its location rather than on the county alone. Plumbing and water fittings in England and Wales are governed by the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999, which water undertakers enforce and which set the standard leak investigation and repair work is carried out to.[3]

ADI publishes a dedicated location page for 20 of the 45 settlements its coverage data records in Lancashire: Accrington, Barnoldswick, Blackburn, Blackpool, Carnforth, Chorley, Cleveleys, Clitheroe, Darwen, Fleetwood, Haslingden, Lancaster, Leyland, Lytham St Annes, Morecambe, Nelson, Ormskirk, Poulton-le-Fylde, Preston and Skelmersdale.[1] The remaining settlements are within the county ADI publishes as a service area but do not have a page of their own, so the list above is what ADI publishes rather than the limit of where it works.

ADI coverage[edit]

Four of the 22 engineers ADI publishes list Lancashire among the counties they cover: Matthew Barron (Wakefield, West Yorkshire), Robert Gires (Cudworth, South Yorkshire), Paul Hope (Swinton, Greater Manchester) and Brett Steele (Halifax, West Yorkshire).[4][5][6][7] Each engineer's coverage is taken from the county list published on their own ADI profile; the county is not necessarily worked in full by every engineer listed. That places Lancashire 31st of 70 by number of covering engineers.
