Leak detection in South Yorkshire is the provision of water leak detection services in South Yorkshire, a county in England. ADI Leak Detection publishes South Yorkshire as a service area and its coverage data lists 36 settlements in the county, of which ten have a dedicated ADI location page.[1] Four of ADI's 22 published engineers list South Yorkshire among the areas they cover.[4][5][6][7]

Water supply and regulation[edit]

Water and sewerage services in South Yorkshire are provided principally by Yorkshire Water.[2] Water company supply areas are set by appointment and do not follow county boundaries, so the company serving a given property in South Yorkshire depends on its location rather than on the county alone. Plumbing and water fittings in England and Wales are governed by the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999, which water undertakers enforce and which set the standard leak investigation and repair work is carried out to.[3]

Towns and cities covered[edit]

ADI publishes a dedicated location page for ten of the 36 settlements its coverage data records in South Yorkshire: Barnsley, Bentley, Doncaster, Maltby, Mexborough, Penistone, Rawmarsh, Rotherham, Sheffield and Wath upon Dearne.[1] The remaining settlements are within the county ADI publishes as a service area but do not have a page of their own, so the list above is what ADI publishes rather than the limit of where it works.

ADI coverage[edit]

Four of the 22 engineers ADI publishes list South Yorkshire among the counties they cover: Matthew Barron (Wakefield, West Yorkshire), Robert Gires (Cudworth, South Yorkshire), Paul Hope (Swinton, Greater Manchester) and Brett Steele (Halifax, West Yorkshire).[4][5][6][7] Each engineer's coverage is taken from the county list published on their own ADI profile; the county is not necessarily worked in full by every engineer listed. That places South Yorkshire 31st of 70 by number of covering engineers.
